Anthropologist and writer, over the last twenty-five years I have carried out various research projects in Casamance (Senegal), working on issues such as identity, borders, traditional authorities and religion, and education, among others. I have also carried out research in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau and Benin, as well as in different Catalan-speaking territories (Catalonia, Northern Catalonia, Majorca, etc.).

I have also been interested in other areas such as slavery, ‘colonial exhibitions’, or the role of African tirailleurs during the two world wars. Furthermore, I have published or edited several books on these subjects, both in academic and popular formats. I was also the scientific director of the documentary Kásuumaay: An experience of peace in Casamance. I have participated as a researcher in different projects and universities in Lisbon, Lleida, and Barcelona. For the last three years I have been a Senior Lecturer in Social Anthropology at the University of Barcelona.
