I am a Dominican illustrator currently living in Barcelona. My artistic name is La Flor del Tamarindo and with my work I seek to represent black and racialized women through the experiences imprinted in their Caribbeanness. My illustrations depict both the nature that has surrounded me since I was a child—the plants, the bugs in the courtyard of my mother’s house (the most important reference in my life), the fruit trees, etc.—and the closest female references who have positively contributed to the construction of my identity. The search for my Afro roots, through my own experiences, is constant in each of my works.

I have collaborated with the acclaimed book series Rebel Girls (Ingram, 2022), with the Brennan Center For Justice with a series of portraits to commemorate Black History Month in the United States, as well as in articles for magazines such as Time, Yes! Magazine, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Lion’s Roar, Revista Negrxs and in the illustration of covers for the editorial project Plataforma Cero, among others.
