Summary of results
This is a ceramic pot acquired during the archaeological excavations and trials carried out in Malabo (Bioko, Equatorial Guinea) in 1960. It was donated to the Ethnology Museum of Barcelona by Armando Ligero Morote and Amador Martín del Molino, who took part, together with August Panyella and Jordi Sabater Pi, in the archaeological campaign.
Chronological reconstruction of provenance
This is a ceramic artefact that was acquired during the campaign of archaeological excavations and trials carried out in Fernando Poo (present-day Bioko) during the months of February and March 1960, for the study of prehistoric ceramics on the island. A total of 805 pieces and fragments of pottery, basalt tools, and palm kernel remains were collected. These were packed in 26 boxes and sent to the Ethnology Museum of Barcelona. Although no explicit reference is made to this piece in the documents, in the inventories for transporting the material we can find an object in box 10 numbered ‘1’, coinciding with the reference number of this piece (MEB L128 04 08, p. 23).
Estimation of provenance
The pot comes from a prehistoric station near Santa Isabel (present-day Malabo), Bioko, Equatorial Guinea.
